CEREMONIAL TATTOO

Remembering an ancient way.

The technique of hand-poking tattoos goes back more than 5500 years, it is done by carrying a small amount of ink (previously ash) under the skin by a hand held needle.

Vondove approaches this ancient craft of tattoo from an intentional and ceremonial angle. Ceremonial hand-poked tattoo is a beautiful way of receiving a marking, where your entire being and internal world is considered in the process. You are held in an intimate 1:1 space - in a light-filled studio amongst the gumtrees. It is a gentle container for holding body, ease of mind and Spirit. This is a powerful medicine of self development & creation. This style of tattoo work is in homage to remembering and re-igniting the old ways of this craft, ancestrally used in a shamanic format to create tattoos of protection, celebration, healing, belonging to self & tribe.

However honouring the medicine of tattoo, her work and process does not claim to belong to nor borrow from any particular lineage of shamanic tattooing. This is her own curated approach to hold this craft with the sanctity that it deserves, as well as that of the person receiving.
